Terminal 5 at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

Closed
Terminal 5 at LAX is closed.
It stopped handling passengers on 28 October 2025 and the building has been demolished. There are no gates, no security checkpoint and nothing open inside it. A rebuilt Terminal 5 is due to open in 2028.
Where Terminal 5's airlines fly from now
If an older itinerary or a booking confirmation still says Terminal 5, this is the terminal to go to instead.
| Airline | Now departs from | Moved |

| Spirit Airlines | Terminal 2 | 22 October 2025 |
| American Airlines | Terminal 4 | 28 October 2025 |
What happened to Terminal 5
Terminal 5 is closed. LAX began winding it down on 21 October 2025 and it handled its last passengers a week later, on 28 October, once American Airlines finished shifting to Terminal 4. The building was demolished that November, so there is no checkpoint, no gate and nothing open inside it. Its three tenants moved out over that week: JetBlue to Terminal 1, Spirit Airlines to Terminal 2, and American to Terminal 4. A replacement is being built from the ground up on the same site as a combined Terminal 4/5 concourse, merging the two terminals' headhouses into a single 300,000-square-foot entrance with a post-security connection between them and on to the Tom Bradley International Terminal. It is not scheduled to reopen until 2028, before the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Anyone holding an older itinerary that lists Terminal 5 should check their airline's current terminal assignment, because none of it applies anymore.
