About Terminal 4

Terminal 4 is American Airlines' original LAX terminal, a single concourse at gates 40 and 42A through 49A, screened through its own checkpoint that runs 4:00 AM to 1:00 AM. It has taken on American's Terminal 5 gates as well, following that terminal's closure for reconstruction in October 2025, which has pushed more of American's domestic schedule through this one building alongside Tom Bradley's international flights. The terminal is partway through a modernization program scheduled to run through 2027, so passengers should expect ongoing construction work around the concourse rather than a finished building. There is no airside link from here to any other terminal.
